In 2000 King County enlisted Frause to help develop and launch a program to encourage the adoption of sustainable yard and garden practices. A plan utilizing the principles of community-based social marketing was devised. The concept was tested in a pilot market in 2001, and was rolled out in several markets the following year. Frause has been executing and improving the program ever since. In 2003, local
cities and utilities began offering the program to their residents with support from King County and Frause. Since inception, Frause has helped manage more
than 150 natural yard care workshops and nearly
5,000 participants across the region.
